August 2017 news from Vice President of Oceania: Anne Bowie

Two highlights stand out for me from this last month. The first is that an Explorers Club programme is being started at the Church of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ on the North Shore in a Filipino Church there. Lewis Bacon and I had the joy of training two leaders from that church on Saturday 22 July and they will begin teaching their children in about a fortnight. Explorer’s Club is the follow-up to Hope for Kids and provides discipling for those children who come to faith and another opportunity for new ones to come to faith.

The second highlight has been planning the second EE New Zealand Conference which is being held in Christchurch over the weekend of

4-6 August.   It will be an exciting opportunity to look back over the last three years since the last one held in Auckland, to celebrate what God has done and see what we might improve on. It’s also an opportunity for everyone to bring their passion, experience, vision and ideas to build in to the future.

This year National Conferences will be held in all the Oceania nations; next August their leaders will gather in Brisbane for the Oceania Conference there and the following August (2019) in Tirana, Albania for the Congress of Nations. These meetings are not designed to be mere ‘talk fests’ but meetings at which all ‘EEians’ can build into the ministry.  Please pray that these Conferences will truly be led and guided by the Spirit to speed the advance the Gospel.

August 2017 news from Raj Narayanan

In terms of EE work this month, I was involved in several workshops which included one Share Your Faith training at Life Church, one EV2 training at Hanouri Korean Presbyterian church and the start of the 10 weeks SYF/EV2 training at Elim Botany. I have also promoted EE workshops to Pastor Steve from Church Unlimited and am hoping that we can partner with them in equipping and multiplying believers in their church. Also, seven youth at a local church heard the gospel for the first time and received their assurance from the Lord. Praise the Lord. I would like to thank Ilse, Anne and Tina for their tremendous help to me this month.

August 2017 news from the desk of the Chairman of the Board Chris Lange

Recently a good friend of mine and fellow EEian told me three simple lines that describe what we need to do in ministry. They are:  take responsibly, expect resistance and trust God. This got me thinking.

Firstly: Take Responsibility. Jesus has commanded us to “go and make disciples” (Matt 28:19). When we share the Gospel and train others to do likewise we are doing just that. This responsibly has primarily been given to us, His people.

Secondly: Expect resistance. When your car moves forward the wind and the road give resistance. It takes energy and there is a cost, but to move forward it must happen. We face a determined enemy that would seek to have us discouraged and shy away from the full potential we have in Christ. This shouldn’t surprise us. Jesus warned us that “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). If you feel discouraged and are facing troubles be encouraged, there’s a good chance you’re moving forward!

Lastly: Trust God. In all things trust Him. It’s as simple as that. Perhaps Proverbs 3:5-6 puts it best: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

So remember:  Take responsibly, expect resistance and above all trust God.
